‘Just Dance‘ is the first single from electro-pop singer Lady GaGa.It was released as the lead-single of her album ‘The Fame‘. The song features pop/R’n'B singer Colby O’Donis and some additional vocals by hip-hop singer-songwriter and producer Akon.Digital Spy describes the song as ‘(…)about being totally wasted at a party. The song received general positive reviews. The Guardian called it “beguilingly compulsive tale of pulling a drug-induced whitey, with a combination of clipped marching beats, sawing electronics and mild R&B flavour that bears a vague resemblance to Nelly Furtado’s “Maneater”. The song first appeared at The U.S. Billboard Hot 100 on August 16 2008 at #76, by Christmas of 2008, it peaked at #2 and one week later at #1, the single took 22 weeks to hit the top spot, The second longest run to #1 only after Creed’s “With Arms Wide Open” that took 27 weeks to hit #1 in November 2000. The song has managed to sell over 4,5 million downloads in the U.S. alone becoming the fifth song to reach a mark over 4 million in paid downloads in the digital era of Soundscan. In the UK, the song debuted at #3 on January 2 2009 and rose to #1 on January 11 2009. On ARIA Charts in Australia, the song debuted at #32 on July 21 2008 and peaked at #1 on September 15 2008. The music video for ‘Just Dance‘ was directed by Melina Matsoukas and starts with GaGa and two dancers arriving at a party that looks like to be in it’s final moments and then one of the party people turns the Boombox and the party re-starts. They all start to dance, and scenes of the party are inter cut with scenes of scantily dressed Lady Gaga dancing in a poncho, with a disco ball or in a small rubber pool playing with an inflated killer whale.
