Lady GaGa is featured on Entertainment Weekly magazine annual “50 Most Powerful Entertainers” list at #2. She’s listed for having sold more than 5 million albums and 24 million singles in the United States in the period ranging from her debut to now as well as her $100 million dollar grossed tour. This issue is already on Americans newsstands.
Lady GaGa has ranked #7 on Forbes 100 Powerful Women list:
All hail the new queen of pop. Part singer and part performance artist, Lady Gaga (née Stefanie Germanotta) has single-handedly reinvigorated pop music and pop culture. Her songs are like brain candy (sticky and addictive), her performances and fashion style are a spectacle. Her first album, The Fame, debuted in 2008, scoring two No. 1 hits with Just Dance and Poker Face. Her latest, The Fame Monster, has now put her on par with Beyoncé, Rhianna, and Mariah Carey for the most No. 1 Billboard hits (six) by a female artist. Her Monster’s Ball world tour is poised to gross $200 million by the time it ends in April 2011. But it’s not all pop and glamour for Gaga. She is vocal supporter of gay rights and the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell.”
Lady GaGa is going to lead a rally in support to the movement she started to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” in Maine Today (September 20), where two senators could provide key votes when the Senate takes up this issue on Tuesday.
UPDATE: The event started at 4 P.M. ET and Lady GaGa had a speech.
Washington Post: Lady Gaga has taken her message calling for an end to the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy to the stage, Twitter and, now, to YouTube. Yes, Lady Gaga has created today’s ad of the day.
The pop singer has issued a rash of tweets calling out lawmakers for their action (or inaction) on the repeal of “don’t ask don’t tell.” In one tweet, Gaga called the filibuster “a tactic to hijack our debate,” and moments later calls her fans, whom she refers to as “Lil Monsters,” to action prior to a scheduled Senate vote: “Key senate vote this Tues. on #DADT repeal. We need 60 senators. Call your senator.”
The tweets were followed by a black and white YouTube video posted Friday in which the singer calls on a number of senators, by name, to vote in favor of repealing the policy. “Not only is the law unconstitutional,” she says, “but it’s not even properly or fairly enforced by the government,” She then pairs the effort to end “don’t ask” with the civil rights movement.
“We are not asking you to agree with or approve the moral implications of homosexuality, we are asking you to do your job, to protect the constitution,” she continues, later quoting Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who retweeted a Gaga tweet on Tuesday (for which The Gaga was thankful).
Gaga has lent her star wattage to the Service Members Legal Defense Fund and, in the video, calls on fans to visit the Web site. The homepage features a photo of the singer with armed service members and calls on visitors to “Answer Lady Gaga’s call for action.” Later in the video, which is over seven minutes long, Gaga pulls out a phone and calls both Sens. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.). The line to Schumer’s office eventually disconnects, and Gillibrand’s takes her to a voicemail inbox that is full.
Gillibrand later tweeted, thanking Gaga for her call, saying she “couldn’t agree more” and asking if The Gaga had time on Friday to talk.

All hands on deck Lil Monsters: Key senate vote this Tues. on #DADT repeal. We need 60 senators. Call your senator now: http://bit.ly/aBZMSJ
A Filibuster is a way to obstruct the Senate Floor from discussing or voting on a given LAW, + is essentially a tactic to hijack our debate.
SENATOR JOHN MCCAIN is attempting to stop the DON’T ASK DON’T TELL repeal vote this tuesday, with a filibuster.
World’s most important economy magazine has released it’s annual list of The 100 Most Powerful Celebrity In The World, that they rank based on multiple factors as: internet popularity, media/written press/tv/radio appearances and popularity, social networks popularity and of course the success in their respective fields (music, in Gaga’s case). Having earning aprox. $62 million dollars from June 09-June 10, Lady GaGa places at #4. Based on money-earned alone, she would rank at #22.
