Lady Gaga bares her heart — and much more — on the cover of Rolling Stone’s new issue, on sale at newsstands Wednesday, June 23rd. In the most extensive interview the pop star has ever given about the breakup that inspired her transformation from Germanotta to Gaga, her complex relationship with her beloved father and the music on her next album, Lady Gaga tells contributing editor Neil Strauss art is life and not being fierce isn’t an option: “When I wake up in the morning, I feel just like any other insecure 24-year-old girl,” she says. “Then I say, ‘Bitch, you’re Lady Gaga, you get up and walk the walk today.’ ”

In a backstage interview before and after one of her mammoth Monster Ball shows in England, Gaga admits she wouldn’t have been as successful if she hadn’t had her heart broken by her East Village boyfriend five years ago, and that “sex is certainly not, like, a priority at the moment.” Her priority is, and has been, the relationship she’s built with her fans. “If I were to ever, God forbid, get hurt onstage and my fans were screaming outside of the hospital, waiting for me to come out, I’d come out as Gaga,” she says, adding that she models her celebrity on Michael Jackson. “Michael got burned, and he lifted that glittered glove so damn high so his fans could see him, because he was in the art of show business. That’s what we do. I don’t even drink water onstage in front of anybody, because I want them to focus on the fantasy of the music.”

Gaga also reveals some deeply personal details for the first time, including her recurring nightmare involving a phantom and a blond girl who’s tied up with ropes. “She’s got my shoes on from the Grammys,” Gaga says. “Go figure — psycho.” When presented with the idea that her behavior indicates she’s a survivor of a traumatic experience, Gaga says there are limits to what she’ll discuss in public. “You have to be careful about how much you reveal to people that look up to you so much.”

Despite a health scare (she currently doesn’t have Lupus, but the disease runs in her family) and nonstop touring, Gaga hasn’t lost her creative inspiration — she’s currently finishing up her new record and designing the stage production for her next tour. Gaga plans to announce the title of her new album — due out early next year — at midnight on New Year’s Eve. “I think I’m gonna get the album title tattooed on me and put out the photo,” she says. “I’ve been working on it for months now, and I feel very strongly that it’s finished right now. It came so quickly. Some artists take years; I don’t. I write music every day.” As for the subject matter of the music, Gaga says she’s moved on with writing songs about her quest for fame to crafting tunes with an angry, perhaps political bent. “Why are we still talking about ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell’?” she says. “It’s like, what fucking year is it? It makes me crazy! And I have been for three years baking cakes — and now I’m going to bake a cake that has a bitter jelly. The message of the new music is now more bitter than it was before. Because the sweeter the cake, the more bitter the jelly can be.”

Schoolboy Greyson Chance, the latest singing sensation to be discovered on YouTube, has received a surprise phone call from Lady Gaga about his cover of her song Paparazzi.

The 12-year-old, from Oklahoma, was invited onto the show of comic Ellen DeGeneres after a video of him playing the piano and singing Lady’s Gaga’s chart topper achieved more than eight million hits.

The footage comes from a school talent show and the audience can be seen watching in amazement.

Ellen surprised Greyson with the call from the pop star. Lady Gaga told him: ‘Be focused and stay away from girls.’

During the interview with the chat show host Greyson said Lady Gaga was probably his number one inspiration, and he revealed he had never had singing lessons.

Greyson has been compared to the young singer Justin Bieber, who was also first seen by the world on YouTube, mainly for his side-swept hairstyle.

Akon recently said on Gaga:

“She records while she’s on the road. I’m flying out to Europe to work on some new records with her. Gaga’s just like me. She has a tour bus with a studio in it. Some of the songs I’ve heard are going to be crazy. She’s getting bigger and better.

When it comes to Gaga’s songwriting process, Akon says he’s glad the pianist is self-contained artist.

“All I’m doing at the end of the day is listening to the tracks Gaga has written and approving them for her album. She has producers that she works with outside of myself and they are coming up with some incredible records, but the beauty of it is she knows exactly what she wants. So it just makes it easier for me.”

“The Oprah Winfrey Show” producer spilled that Lady GaGa will be on the show this week, January 15.

“Lady gaga next Friday everyone!,” so Sheri Salata tweeted on Monday. It is still unclear whether the controversial singer would be both sitting for an interview and performing.

Since the Friday shows are dedicated for live television, GaGa will travel to Chicago on that same day. Such is not the case with “Britain’s Got Talent” singing sensation Susan Boyle who is also scheduled to be on the show. Susan is set to fly in on Wednesday, January 13 for a taped appearance.

Lady Gaga has broken her own PR protocol and told Brisbane radio shock jocks she is not offended by hermaphrodite rumours — but her vagina is “a little upset”.

The pop diva — who has endured the bizarre rumours since recent footage of her dancing on stage showed a bump in her crotch — agreed to broach the topic during an interview with Brisbane’s Nova breakfast radio team yesterday.

And she did so despite her minder telling Nova’s Meshel, Ash and Tim that the interview must not stray from Lady Gaga’s”fashion, her tour, her fans and her music”.

“I’m going to ask how her fashion works around her penis … and whether her fans notice it,” the team is heard joking before the interview begins, after a full audio track was posted on the Nova website.

Thanks to her outsize ambition, Lady Gaga has been compared to any number of famous blondes, including Britney Spears and Madonna. But it turns out that Gaga most identified with another golden-tressed lady when she shot her video for “Paparazzi.”

Princess Diana was the reference point for her VMA-nominated “Paparazzi” clip, Gaga said in her V magazine cover story. Her accompanying photo spread was shot by Mario Testino, who regularly photographed the princess while she was alive.

“Yes, Diana was the most iconic martyr of fame,” she says in the September issue. “She died because of it.”

As for all those other blondes that people are quick to compare her to, well, Gaga said, that’s just lazy. “Look, when I was a brunette, they called me Amy Winehouse. Then they called me Christina, then Gwen. I just don’t think most people’s reference points go back very far.”

Although Gaga may get slightly peeved when she’s compared to Madonna or Britney, it’s the moments when she’s recognized by people who play a completely different genre of music that tickle her fancy. When she found out that Faith No More covered one of her songs, she was ecstatic.

“I love Faith No More! Their song ‘Epic’ was my burlesque number at the bar I used to work at! I used to fog myself and dance to it,” she recalled. “When I found out they did ‘Poker Face,’ I was like, ‘Sh–!’ ”

Her newfound fame means that sometimes she also finds herself in tabloid magazines being critiqued for her odd sense of fashion. But she isn’t concerned by what gossip editors have to say about her. “Us Weekly putting me on the worst-dressed list, I could care less,” she said. “If Karl Lagerfeld called me an ugly hag, then I’d be upset. Because it’s Karl Lagerfeld.”

She went on to say that people may have also misinterpreted her look and aesthetic. “To us, it’s just beautiful,” she said. “The idea that Gaga is just kooky for the sake of being kooky is so wrong.”

Things are about to change for the Gaga stage show once she hits the road for her tour with Kanye West in October. She told the magazine that the duo are “exploring aesthetics and new technology that neither of us have traveled, and we are attempting an epic story.”
