Rihanna and Lady Gaga have a lot in common. They are both innovative pop stars with a concrete vision for their music and image. They are both fashionistas with a love for forward-thinking style. And they certainly both have swagger.
Maybe that’s why Rihanna has so much respect for her contemporary. “She has a very bold, fearless image,” Rihanna told MTV News on the set of her “Hard” music video.
Miley Cyrus gaga for Lady Gaga at the Royal Variety Show in England
Miley Cyrus may just be the biggest Lady Gaga fan after posting the phrase “I met Lady Gaga!” on her blog over 56 times! Her little thumbs must be sore. But being a massive fan of Lady Gaga myself, I can understand the obsession. Its nice to see that Miley is so grounded that she is able to let herself go and show her appreciation for another artist, instead of being envious of Gaga’s insane success.
Lady GaGa was banned from performing her suicide act before the Queen last night at the Royal Variety Performance in Blackpool in the UK.
GaGa, a performance artist rocketing into music success, had her harikari routine and its fake blood nixed. She was issued with hurried instructions about meeting the Royal Family but reportedly became upset when she was told that her father would also be able to meet the Queen.
More than 1,000 people turned out to catch a glimpse of the monarch and the Duke of Edinburgh as they arrived at the Opera House for the star-studded event.
Comedian Peter Kay, host for the charity spectacular, welcomed the Queen to Blackpool, declaring it “the entertainment capital of the world”.
He said his “Nan” was sitting near the monarch and they would be “swapping fudge by the interval”.
“She might be in her 80s but she still pulls her wheelie bin out every Tuesday night. I just wish my Nanna would,” he joked.
Controversial pop star Lady Gaga put in a relatively conservative performance, perhaps toning down her outrageous style for the Queen.
Wearing a red PVC outfit, featuring a 20ft long cloak and Elizabethan-style collar, she played a “floating” piano, which was suspended in the air on giant stilts.
“Good evening Blackpool. Let me hear you rattle your jewellery,” she said. Continue Reading »
Lady Gaga Producer RedOne ‘Overwhelmed’ By Grammy Noms
Lady Gaga’s super-producer collaborator, RedOne, who worked with the five-time Grammy-nominated pop star frequently on her album, The Fame, is still having a hard time believing that his work with the singer has gained them so much recognition.
And now with a few more Grammy nominations for the singer, RedOne explained to MTV News at the Grammy Nominations Concert that he is still reeling from the news. “It’s overwhelming. I got tears, tears in my eyes,” he said. “It’s unbelievable. It’s crazy.”
Lady Gaga has told how she wants a husband and a baby, but isn’t prepared to drop her singing career for domestic bliss just yet.
With her outlandish outfits and eccentric on-stage antics, her dream of settling down might raise a few eyebrows, but the independent lady hinted it could still be some time off yet.
Lady Gaga Thanks Her ‘Little Monsters’ For Grammy Nominations
Lady Gaga is up for five gramophones at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year. And instead of thanking her collaborators or even taking credit for it herself, she has only one group of people to thank for this latest marker of the success she’s amassed over the last year: her fans.
Lady Gaga wanted lambs and butterflies on ‘X Factor’
Lady Gaga demanded lambs and hundreds of butterflies on stage for her performance on ‘The X Factor’.
The ‘Bad Romance’ singer astonished reality TV mogul Simon Cowell with her requests, but they were eventually vetoed by health and safety officers. She will instead perform on the UK TV talent show this Sunday surrounded by scantily clad male dancers.
Check the video of the photoshoot Lady GaGa did for i-D magazine, to feature on their 30th anniversary 100 Portraits spread (to be released March 2010). She was shot by Nick Knight.
Lady Gaga and RedOne definitely have a good partnership going. The singer and the songwriter/producer collaborated on some of the biggest tracks of the year, earning five Grammy nominations this week.
And, RedOne says that their musical chemistry together was pretty immediate. “To be honest, Lady Gaga was always Lady Gaga,” RedOne told MTV News about the electropop chanteuse, who gave her fans credit for her Grammy nods. “From the first day I met her she was that Lady Gaga, before she had a deal or anything. I always felt like she was a star from the first day.”
Gaga, who recently released eight darker, edgier new songs on The Fame Monster, has always seemed to know what she wants, but she’s managed to keep everyone else guessing what her next artistic move will be. “She has a vision already in her head, and you just have to meet her, ’cause she’s talented and she doesn’t need any directions from anybody,” he said, crediting that resolve with their good working relationship. “It was a perfect match. When we went into the studio, it was just natural.”
And as Gaga’s rapidly gone from relative obscurity to worldwide fame, RedOne said she hasn’t changed. Working with her now is exactly the same as in their early days together. “No, she didn’t change. I felt like she’s big. She’s a superstar now, really superstar,” he said, adding that in the studio it’s “just natural easy fun, no over-thinking.”
As for what the two will do next, RedOne isn’t sharing. He wants to make sure no one ever knows what they will do next. “That I don’t want to say because you always want to shock people,” he explained. “And you don’t want to let people know, so that when they hear it, [they go], ‘Oh my God.’
