Hollywood actor Patrick Swayze, best known for his roles in the hit films Dirty Dancing and Ghost, has died after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, his publicist has confirmed.

The 57-year-old former heart-throb died after suffering complications from the illness.

Swayze was diagnosed with advanced stage-four pancreatic cancer in January 2008, leaving him with only a one-percent chance of surviving longer than five years, according to medical experts.

Swayze had bravely fought the disease in the public eye, continuing to work despite cancer treatment and significant weight loss.

In January he slammed tabloid reporting of his illness in an interview with ABC television’s Barbara Walters, where he bullishly declared that he was determined to beat his condition.

He told Walters he had tried to keep his illness secret but went public to protect family and friends after tabloids reported he was close to death.

“Hope is a very, very fragile thing in anyone’s life and the people I love do not need to have that hope robbed from them when it’s unjustified and it’s untrue,” Swayze said.

In May, Swayze’s spokesperson condemned “reckless” reports that the star had died, saying he was alive and well and responding to treatment.

A lanky Texan with a dancer’s easy grace, Swayze — the son of a dance teacher and an engineering drafter — had a string of hit films in the 1980s and 1990s. He was named “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine in 1991.

As a young man, he moved to New York City in 1972 for more formal dance training at the prestigious Harkness Ballet and Joffrey ballet schools.

He scored a small-screen success in the 1985 television miniseries North and South, which was set in the American Civil War.

After years of roles on television and the silver screen Swayze shot to superstardom in 1987 with his film Dirty Dancing, an international blockbuster in which he played a dancing teacher to a young wallflower who starts to bloom.

In Ghost, Swayze starred opposite Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg in a film that won Goldberg an Oscar. In 1995, he took a turn in drag in To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar.

Swayze soldiered on, working through much of his illness, and spending time with wife Lisa Niemi, a dancer and actress.

Back in June, Kanye West shared plans of an upcoming North American co-headlining tour with Lady Gaga. Three months to the day of that revelation, we’re finally beginning to get an idea of when and where these dates may be taking place.

As Ticketmaster so graciously reveals, it appears the trek, which is called “Fame Kills,” will go down between December and January — as in a little less than three months from now. So far, Greensboro, NC, Hartford, CT, and Dallas, TX have dates listed (see below).

Pre-sale tickets will apparently be available beginning Tuesday, September 15th, so expect an official announcement soon. As always, we’ll keep you updated.

Saturday Night Live returns sans axe for its 35th season with a packed line-up of hosts and musical guests. The season premiere, airing September 26, stars Transformers hottie Megan Fox as guest host, with uber-rockers U2 performing.

Lady GaGa will continue her world domination when she takes the SNL stage on October 3, with Shakira and Regina Spektor also set to perform on October 10 and 17 respectively.

Lady GaGa had a reporter at a press conference in Germany thrown out by security on Monday when a local journalist questioned the pop star about rumors she is a hermaphrodite.

Internet footage of the singer onstage earlier this year sparked fresh debate as to whether or not the hitmaker had both female and male reproductive organs, because a bulge could clearly be seen.

GaGa has since slammed the rumors as “ridiculous,” but the controversy is refusing to go away, and she was put on the spot by a interviewer during the Berlin press launch of her new range of headphones.

When asked by German TV personality Collien Fernandes if she had a penis, Gaga snarled, “My vagina is offended by this question,” before security pounced on the woman and escorted her from the IFA electronics trade show.

Fernandes is dumbfounded by her harsh treatment and insists she did nothing wrong.

She says, “I don’t really understand the fuss. It’s obvious someone would ask her this question after the picture was all over the news.”

Lady GaGa’s Heartbeats line of jewel-shaped earphones was launched in collaboration with hip-hop super-producer Dr. Dre and Monster electronics.

While launching her new line of headphones at London’s Oxford Street HMV Store, Lady Gaga announced her love for Green Day’s 1994 album Dookie.

The singer stated that she was so obsessed with the record that she used to lick the album’s sleeve.

“I remember when I bought it, I just wanted to lick the pages from the booklet!” said Gaga. “That particular album, I mean, it is iconic.”

Along with revealing her love for the record, Gaga also stated she does have fears about the record industry.

“You know, you can download an MP3 but you cannot download a lifestyle,” she said. “And the culture of music, that’s what compels young people to buy the hard album, and eat it, and smell it, and taste it.”

“Poker Face” caught the first position on this all-time digital tracks chart, with 779,000 downloads in the UK and “Just Dance” just come in at #3 with 700,000 copies sold.
